OLYMPIA MODIFIED!

Throughout the times, artists, great or small, like to modify works done by other artists, adding or subtracting something from the painting. Marcel Duchamp for instance, added a moustache and a goatee to the Mona Lisa.Picasso did his version of Las Meninas of Velazquez. Perhaps Olympia by Manet is one of the most modified painting. There is even a gay Olympia. So I decided to join a great number of artists who modified the famous painting,

WOMAN SUES NASA OVER VIAL OF MOON DUST!

A Tennessee woman has filed a lawsuit against NASA claiming that the moon dust she received as a child was a gift from Neil Armstrong.

According to documents filed with the U.S. District Court of Kansas, Laura Murray Cicco was about 10 years old when her mother presented her with the light grey dust in a small glass vial. The rubber-stopped container came with one of her father's business cards inscribed by the astronaut.

"To Laura Ann Murray, best of luck," wrote Armstrong, who added his autograph to the back of the card. Source: Ribert Z Pearlman- Space. com

The Blue Sand dunes of Mars.

I DID MY WAY!

We don't belong to a clique, we don't have any connections and I don't belong to any art movement.  We means I and Herbert. As  the song by Frank Sinatra...I Did My Way. They see my work, they write about it, they buy it. My list of collectors are quite impressive. No wonder why  I end up at the Library Note: Files can  not be accessed by the Internet. SIGNS OF PAST LIFE IN MARS!

If you're holding out hope that Mars may have once been an inhabited world, two new studies should put a little spring in your step.
NASA's Mars rover Curiosity has identified a variety of organic molecules, the carbon-based building blocks of life as we know it, in 3.5-billion-year-old Red Planet rocks, one of the papers reports.

ANOTHER VICTIM OF THE KILAUEA!

(CNN)Steam billowed up from Hawaii's largest freshwater lake as lava flow evaporated its placid waters within a few hours and made it the latest casualty from the Big Island's Kilauea volcano.

A steam plume first appeared around 10 a.m. Saturday as lava poured into Green Lake in Kapoho, but by 3 p.m. a Hawaii County Fire Department overflight confirmed to the US Geological Survey that the lake had filled with lava and the body of water was no more.

CENSORING ART IS A BAD PRECEDENT!

Censoring art is a bad precedent!
There are many things more racy than Egon Schiele nude paintings, part of  exhibitions to celebrate the 100 years of his death. There are posters announcing those exhibitions on the bus stops in New York City showing nude women, but with their private part blurred. Paintings and sculptures of nude bodies, women or men have been done since the Greek times. So, censoring Egon Schiele blurring the private part of his nude paintings would be like putting a fig leaf in  nudes made by Modigliani

, Manet, Velazquez,  Picasso, Lautrec and many masters of the past.

PREHISTORIC RESTAURANT IN TOKYO!

Oscar Holland, CNN
Tokyo's buzzing Roppongi district is a picture of neon-lit modernity, where glistening skyscrapers stand amid designer boutiques and late-night bars. At the two-story barbecue restaurant Nikunotoriko however, diners are encouraged to step back in time.
Inspired by prehistoric life, the two-story design comprises a cave-like ground floor and, on the upper level, a reimagined forest in which patrons sit around low tables, as if gathered around a campfire.
The contrast between the restaurant and its surroundings serves to intensify the experience of escaping the city, according to the architect behind the project, Ryoji Iedokoro.

A QUINTESSENTIAL NEW YORK CAT!

New Yorkers have a reputation for  being aloof, cool, to the point that  if somebody
walks nude on the street they do not pay much attention. This behavior can also
apply to animals. See, for instance, this cat: Totally oblivious to the noise, people
on the street and even dogs. He is a working cat, the type that merchants keep at  their
stores to prevent rats.
