Our body is pummeled by about 100 trillion neutrinos every second.

A neutrino is a subatomic particle just as tiny as an electron, but without any charge. Scientists know neutrinos have a tiny bit of mass, but they can't pin down exactly how little. The result is that neutrinos tend to give other matter the cold shoulder: They don't interact with their surroundings very often, which makes them difficult for scientists to spot.

Nevertheless, they're everywhere — your body is pummeled by about 100 trillion neutrinos every second. And scientists think the weird particles may hold the key to some of the biggest mysteries about the universe, including why matter won out over antimatter early after the Big Bang.

TRANSGENDER WOMAN TO COMPETE FOR MISS UNIVERSE!

The New York Times- Raphael Minde.

MADRID — Asked when she first realized that she was a girl, Ángela Ponce answered with her own question: “And when did you first know you were a boy?”

After winning Spain’s national beauty contest last month, Ms. Ponce will become the first transgender woman to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. But she is also on a mission to challenge traditional concepts of gender and beauty, as well as to break down what she sees as unacceptable barriers in the fashion industry.

“Having a vagina doesn’t make a woman,” she said in an interview. “Even if many people don’t want to see me as a woman, I clearly belong among them.

KEVIN RICHARDSON , THE LION WHISPERER!

Meet Kevin Richardson, known as "The Lion Whisperer" from  Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary near Pretoria South Africa.
He has slept next to, fed, and lived with lions. He has also worked with cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. He prefers lions to any other big cat. His relationship with the animals, however, has not been an instant one. He has known all of the lions he works with since they were cubs. He still continues his bond with Tau and Napoleon, the lion brothers who were his introduction to big cats.

Despite his prior involvement in lion club petting, Richardson rejects the traditional notion that lions should be mastered and dominated, preferring to develop a relationship over time, based on love and respect. "A lion is not a possession; it's a sentient being, so you must pay attention and develop your bond like with any relationship  Sources: 60 Minutes, Wikipedia.

SURGERY ON SPACE!

There's already enough to worry about when planning a one-way trip to Mars. Did you pack enough sunblock to deflect the deadly cosmic radiation? Will there be enough water there? What if your assigned procreation partner doesn't like you? Now, scientists writing in the British Journal of Surgery have provided one more thing to fear: floating blobs of infectious bodily fluids.

According to the authors of a new paper published last week (June 19), runaway blood, urine and fecal matter are just some of myriad possible complications of space surgery that likely await future astronauts. In a review of studies called simply "Surgery in space," the team of researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and King's College Hospital in London scoured six decades of scientific literature to compile the most comprehensive (and fascinating) list of those complications yet.
