The famous Ansonia building.

The Ansonia Building, located between 73rd and 74th street on the Upper West Side, was the largest residential
hotel in New York in 1904. The exterior style is the Beaux-Art. Famous personalities  lived there such as the conductor Arturo Toscanini, the composer Igor Stravinsky, the tenor Enrico Caruso. The singer and actress Bette Midler didn't lived there but started her career singing in a gay bathhouse located at the building. Hollywood used the Ansonia as set for the movie "Single White Female."

FOR THE LOVE OF HER DOGS!

The strangers who raised money so a woman could evacuate with her rescue dogs
Christine Meinhold was planning to ride out the storm in her home, despite a mandatory evacuation order. She has 7 rescue dogs. She wasn't going to abandon them -- and she didn't have the resources to transport them. After CNN reported on her dilemma, complete strangers raised enough money for Meinhold to rent a U-Haul van and drive to safety (with her dogs, of course.)
