Over the years I have written four letters to The New York Times. Two of them were published which shows that my view points were taken into consideration.

THE GREENWICH VILLAGE HALLOWEEN PARADE CANCELED!

Halloween finally falls on a Saturday this year, but without a beloved tradition, it will feel like a quiet night in New York City.

The Greenwich Village Halloween parade has been canceled because of COVID-19 concerns, parade organizers announced Wednesday.

Each year, more than 50,000 people parade up 6th Avenue, decked out in creative costumes, while live bands play spooky music.

This would have been the 47th year. But like many other large events this year, the coronavirus got in the way of those plans. The large crowds that typically gather in the street to march and on the sidewalk to watch would have made social distancing impossible.

The board made the decision last month; an official press release is set to be released on Monday.
